Mission Statement/School Family History

Our Mission Statement:

Greenwood Forest has a school wide culture of collaboration through which we effectively plan and implement differentiated instruction that engages all learners resulting in increasing student success and closing the achievement gap.

Our School History:

Greenwood Forest Elementary is located in the 1960 and Champions area. The school is named after the subdivision in which it is located. Homes in the Greenwood Forest subdivision were built mainly by Vincent Kickerillo and Don Hand. Don Hand, known as the “father of 1960,” donated the land where the school currently sits. In fact, Hand generously donated over 900 acres of land in the region benefiting the Klein Independent School District. The campus opened in August 1971. Herman Monroe, the opening building principal, welcomed 500 students on the first day of classes. Currently the school is home to over 750 students and 93 staff members.
